Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian demi-lune card table is a semi-circular piece of late 18th-century furniture designed with a hinged top that folds open to support card playing. When closed, it rests flat against a wall to serve as a hallway or reception room console table.

These tables were primarily constructed using solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, frequently decorated with boxwood or satinwood string inlay. The interior playing surface was typically lined with woven wool baize or felt.

Authentic period tables feature hand-cut dovetail joints, gate-leg or concertina support mechanisms, original brass hinges, and natural uneven wear on the timber surfaces and leg bases.

Position the table closed against an entryway wall or in an alcove to function as a narrow console table. Top it with a table lamp, decorative bowl, or framed artwork to integrate historic timber into a modern interior.

Dust the timber regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish once or twice a year along the grain. Keep the piece away from direct sunlight, radiators, and sudden changes in humidity to prevent wood shrinkage.
