Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Malayer rugs originate from the Malayer district in northwestern Iran, an area historically renowned for its diverse weaving styles that blend village design traditions with city-carpet finesse. Produced predominantly during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, these rugs frequently feature intricate lattice, diamond, or floral motifs set within structured borders.

Authentic antique Persian rugs are hand-knotted using hand-spun wool pile woven onto a durable cotton or wool warp and weft foundation. The yarn is historically coloured using natural vegetable and mineral dyes, resulting in rich tones that age gracefully with gentle variation in hue.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-tied knot structures visible on the reverse side, showing slight irregularities typical of handloom craftsmanship. Natural dye variations, known as abrash, create subtle horizontal color shifts across the pile, while the overall weight and flexibility reflect traditional wool and foundation materials.

An antique rug serves as a textural anchor on exposed wooden floorboards, polished concrete, or neutral natural-fibre underlays. Interior designers frequently pair the detailed geometric lattice patterns with streamlined contemporary furniture or warm timber joinery to contrast modern lines with historic pattern.

Preserve the pile by using a suction-only vacuum cleaner without a rotating beater bar to avoid pulling the hand-knotted fibres. Promptly spot clean spills with lukewarm water and mild neutral detergent, rotate the carpet annually to equalize foot traffic, and use a high-quality rug underlay to prevent slipping and wear.
