Superb Welsh settle of very small proportions, in native oak with sycamore panels.
The back has three rectangular panels with beaded edging flanked by square and simply-shaped arms and supports, over a solid seat above a cupboard base accessed through the right hand hinged panel, and raised on stile feet.
The right hand back panel is hinged (although now fixed) and probably formed a secret door to a ''cupboard'' made from a hole in the fireplace wall behind.
Wonderful colour and surface patination.
(Rear legs built up).
Mid-Wales, circa 1720.
Height: 35 inches; 89 cms.
Width; 37 inches; 94 cms.
Depth to front of arm: 19 inches; 48 cms.
