Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in early nineteenth-century Britain, Regency centre tables were designed to sit in the middle of a room or entryway. They typically feature circular or octagonal tops, central pedestal supports, splayed legs, and rich exotic veneers such as rosewood or mahogany.

Cabinetmakers during the Regency era favoured high-quality hardwoods including Brazilian rosewood, flame mahogany, and zebrawood. Decorative features often incorporated brass stringing, ebony or satinwood crossbanding, and cast brass toe caps or castors.

Authentic Regency pieces exhibit hand-cut brass or timber joinery, original brass catch mechanisms under the tabletop, and period-correct castors. Examining the underside of the table top usually reveals hand-sawn secondary timbers, such as pine or oak, alongside natural oxidation appropriate to its age.

A Regency centre table functions well as a focal point in an entrance foyer or as a flexible dining solution in compact spaces. Positioning the table with modern chairs or beneath a contemporary light fitting creates an engaging juxtaposition between historic craftsmanship and modern aesthetics.

Rosewood should be kept away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent fading and veneer movement. Cleaning should be done with a dry microfibre cloth, followed by periodic application of beeswax polish applied along the grain to protect the finish.
