Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Arts and Crafts side table dates from 1900. The piece is constructed from dark brown oak and features a hammered copper top, vertical slatted splats between the legs, and a wax finish. The structure is supported by splayed tapered legs and lower cross stretchers. It stands 76 cm high, 45.5 cm wide, and 45.5 cm deep. In a modern interior, this practical side table fits comfortably at the end of a sofa or in a quiet corner of a living room to hold a lamp, book, or small decorative object. Its clean lines and mixed metal and wood construction complement traditional and eclectic country house schemes alike.

Developing in the late nineteenth century as a reaction against industrial mass production, the Arts and Crafts movement emphasised hand craftsmanship, structural honesty, simple geometric forms, and natural materials such as oak and beaten copper.

These tables typically feature a solid oak or fruitwood frame assembled using traditional joinery techniques, fitted with a sheet of hand-hammered or repousse copper secured across the top surface.

Authentic pieces display visible structural joinery, such as mortise and tenon joints, clean unadorned lines, hand-worked surfaces like hammered metal, and native timber finishes with natural age patina.

Position the piece beside neutral upholstered seating or within a reading corner, where the warm tones of the hammered copper and dark oak contrast against minimalist wall colours.

Dust the oak framework regularly with a soft cloth and apply a neutral beeswax polish periodically. The copper top should be dusted gently, avoiding harsh abrasive cleaners that strip the natural surface oxidisation.
