Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Edwardian mahogany tallboy chest is a vertical storage unit crafted during the reign of King Edward VII (19011910). These pieces often incorporate elements of Queen Anne and Georgian revival styles, featuring elevated proportions, upper drawers, and lower cupboard compartments raised on cabriole or turned legs.

Edwardian tallboys were primarily constructed using solid mahogany or rich mahogany veneers over pine frameworks. They feature hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, brass drop handles, framed panel cupboard doors, and detailed carvings such as rope-twist moulding.

Authentic pieces exhibit early 20th-century joinery marks, including narrow hand-cut or early machine dovetailing on drawer construction. Genuine timber demonstrates natural oxidisation and surface patination, complemented by cast brass hardware showing historical wear.

Position the tallboy as a focal point against neutral or dark saturated walls to highlight the warm mahogany tones. Contrast the traditional timber structure with contemporary lamps, understated ceramic vessel arrangements, or minimalist framed artwork.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent shrinkage or veneer cracking. Clean the polished mahogany regularly with a microfibre cloth and apply high-grade beeswax polish along the grain annually to maintain the protective finish.
