School House Antiques has dated these Jacobean Oak Chest Drawers to the 17th Century.
The oak is of high quality throughout, with all timbers original, including the back boards and the top. The sides are framed with continuous bobbin (or bead) turnings that run the full height of the carcass — a distinctive and attractive period detail.

The façade is arranged in the classic late-17th-century manner of three tiers of two drawers, each drawer front boldly moulded with geometric raised panels. The drawers run smoothly and are fitted with brass pear-drop handles and matching keyhole escutcheons.

Condition is particularly appealing for a piece of this age: the chest has never been “messed about with.” There are no later alterations or aggressive restorations to the timber . The surface remains honest and the colour deep and even.
