Antique Zenith Pocket Watch, 1927

1900 - 1920
Description

Antique Zenith pocket watch, 1927.

The watch has a good quality stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Zenith name, and it has the serial number 2,795,436 which dates it back to circa 1927.

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has a 1929 presentation inscription from the Directors of Eatoughs Ltd, a major British boot and shoe manufacturer.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is the gold plated Star model from the Dennison Watch Case Company, an English case manufacturer and supplier to various watch manufacturers. The case is in super condition, just one small indentation to the back, barely worth mentioning.

The glass lens is in lovely condition.

The dial is signed Zenith and it also has the name of the original retailer, H Burton & Son, Leicester. Eatoughs was based in Earl Shilton which was then a large village in the Hinckley and Bosworth borough of Leicestershire. The dial is in very nice condition with original blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Pocket watches produced by Zenith during the 1920s reflect interwar Swiss horological engineering, featuring mechanical lever movements, precise timekeeping dials, and open-face or hunter gold-plated cases.

Timepieces from this era commonly utilized solid gold, gold-filled, or nickel cases paired with enamel dials, tempered steel hands, and mineral glass crystals.

Authentic pieces display hallmarks or maker signatures on the dial and movement, clear serial numbers inside the case back, and period-correct movement finishing.

An open-face pocket watch can be worn attached to a Albert chain secured across a waistcoat, attached to a suit jacket lapel, or displayed on a specialized desk stand.

Mechanical pocket watches require periodic servicing by a qualified horologist, gentle manual winding without over-tightening, and storage in a dry, temperature-regulated environment.
