Oxford Bar Back Windsor Armchair C.1860

Description

Lovely example of an Oxford bar back Windsor or kitchen armchair in beech and elm c.1860. Sloping backrest with a turned roundel at the centre of both stretchers, the lower one pierced with a decorative foliate design. Curving arms on bobbin turned supports over a generous 'saddle' seat shaped from a single elm board. Raised on turned legs set at and angle for stability and joined with turned H stretchers for strength. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
