Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Square Tray with Bird / Mosaic. Circa 1880. Spectacular Decoration.

High-quality cloisonné with skilled brass wire work and multi- coloured enamels. Body is decorated with spectacular and complex geometric shapes formed into multi-patterned mosaics. Centre decorated with Bird, foliage and flowers. Substantial use of wires, both decorative and functional in anchoring the cloisonne structure. The reverse similarly profusely decorated with geometric shapes and central stylised flower. Particularly fine early Japanese cloisonne work with full spectrum of coloured enamels in white / ivory, light blue, light green, reds abd yellow. Superb quality.

Condition: Excellent and original condition.

The surface displays a vibrant turquoise blue ground with skilled brass wire work forming multi-patterned geometric mosaics in a full spectrum of white, light blue, light green, reds, and yellow.
