Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A rummer is a short-stemmed drinking glass with a wide bowl and a heavy foot, predominantly manufactured in Britain from the mid-eighteenth through the nineteenth century for serving spirits, punch, or ale.

Nineteenth-century rummers were typically hand-blown using lead crystal or flint glass, which provided high brilliance and allowed for precise hand-cut or wheel-engraved decoration.

Authentic pieces generally display a hand-finished pontil mark on the base, slight irregularities in symmetry from hand-blowing, and minor surface wear consistent with age, particularly on the underside of the foot.

Antique glass stemware can be displayed on a sideboard, open shelving, or a drinks trolley, catching natural light to highlight the cut facet patterns within modern or traditional settings.

Antique glass should be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoided from extreme temperature changes, and carefully dried with a soft lint-free cloth.
