Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A linen press is a traditional piece of storage furniture originating in the 17th century and widely produced throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, consisting of an upper cupboard with shelves or slides over a lower chest of drawers.

Early 19th-century examples typically feature solid or veneered flame mahogany, hand-cut dovetail drawer joinery, turned timber knobs or brass pull handles, and oak or pine secondary timbers for internal drawer linings and backboards.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-planed timber surfaces, tool marks on back panels, period-accurate joinery such as irregular hand-cut dovetails, original lock mechanisms, and natural oxidation or minor wear consistent with historic usage.

While traditionally designed for storing household linens in bedrooms, a mahogany linen press can function in a dining room as a sideboard alternative, serve as a drinks cabinet, or provide substantial storage within a hallway or living room.

Maintain the timber finish by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a quality beeswax polish once or twice per year, keeping the structure away from direct heat sources and radiators to prevent timber movement or veneer lifting.
