Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A bachelors chest is a compact, low chest of drawers originally designed in the 18th and 19th centuries for single occupants living in smaller quarters. Featuring three or four graduated drawers, these versatile pieces provided compact clothing storage and often included a fold-over top or pull-out brushing slide.

Victorian chests of drawers were predominantly constructed using solid or veneered mahogany, oak, and walnut, frequently lined with pine or oak drawer bottoms. Hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-turned brass handles, and solid bracket or turned feet are standard hallmarks of quality cabinetmaking from this era.

Authentic Victorian pieces feature hand-carved drawer linings, slightly irregular dovetail joints, and hand-forged steel or brass screws. Examining the timber reveals natural shrinkage marks, patinated brass fittings, and original iron locks within the drawer fronts.

A mahogany bachelors chest serves effectively as a large bedside table, an entryway accent, or a living room side table. Pairing rich timber tones with contemporary table lamps, ceramic vessels, or modern artwork creates a balanced interior scheme.

Maintain antique mahogany by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a beeswax polish once or twice per year. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent timber warping and finish fading.
