Georgian Circular Mahogany Wine Table

18th century
Description

A Good Quality George III Period Mahogany Wine Table, Having Well Figured Circular Tilting Top With Elegant Reeded Edge, Raised On Turned Central Column Terminating With Elegant Reeded Tripod Legs And Turned Ball Feet.

Simple, but effective would be a great way to describe this charming little georgian occasional lamp table. It is constructed using good quality mahogany timber and the overall cabinet making is of a high level. Touches like the reeded edge to the top and legs add an extra level of sophistication as well as the unusual feature on a table this small of the tilting top.

The perfect size for an absolute host of spaces around the home, it is both beautiful and practical. It would work just as well alongside a sofa or library chair in the living room to place a drinks glass on top of, as it would in the drawing room with a lamp perched atop, or even in the bedroom as a bedside table.

As with all our items this table has been attended to in our worksops by our highly trained, skilled, traditional antique furniture restorers, before being offered for sale, meaning it has received any work required to ensure it is ready to place straight into the home, including a natural wax polish.

Circa 1800.

Height 29.5in.

Diameter 19.5in

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in 18th-century Britain, a wine table is a small, portable pedestal table designed to hold a decanter, glasses, or a candle alongside seating.

These tables were traditionally crafted from solid mahogany, featuring a circular top mounted on a turned central column supported by a tripod base.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit hand-turned central columns, hand-cut joinery beneath the top, and natural surface wear consistent with aged timber.

Position the table beside an armchair or sofa to serve as a functional accent piece for holding lamps, books, or beverages in living spaces.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax periodically, keeping the wood away from direct heat sources and damp environments.
