Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian tripod table is an eighteenth-century English occasional table characterised by a circular top mounted on a turned central pedestal supported by three sprawling legs. Originally designed to serve tea, wine, or hold candles, these tables were crafted to remain stable on uneven timber floorboards.

These tables were primarily constructed from solid dense mahogany, oak, or walnut. Key structural features include hand-turned central columns, cabriole or pad-foot legs dovetailed into the base of the column, and often a tilt-top mechanism secured with a brass catch.

Authentic period examples display signs of age such as hand-cut dovetails on the underside block, irregular turned lines on the pedestal stem, original iron bearer plates, and natural shrinkage causing the top to become slightly oval over centuries.

Place the table beside an armchair or sofa to serve as a functional drink surface or reading light holder. Its light visual footprint makes it suitable for tight corners, alcoves, or entryways alongside modern upholstered seating.

Maintain the surface by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, and damp environments to prevent timber warping and finish degradation.
