FAQs

Sheraton furniture, originating in the late 18th century, is characterised by classical proportions, rectilinear forms, contrasting veneers, and tapered legs, reflecting neoclassical influences.

Cabinetmakers primarily used solid mahogany and pine for structural integrity, often incorporating fine veneers, satinwood stringing, and brass hardware for decorative detail.

Authenticity is determined by examining joinery techniques such as hand-cut dovetails, traditional hand-planed surfaces, timber shrinkage, and natural oxidisation consistent with the period.

This piece works well as an accent table in a traditional or transitional living space, paired alongside upholstered seating or used to display decorative objects.

Maintain timber furniture by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish the wood.
