Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A tallboy, also known as a chest-on-chest, is a two-tiered wooden storage cabinet popularised during the 18th century in Great Britain. Typically crafted from walnut or mahogany during the George II period, it features stacked chests of drawers to maximize vertical storage space.

George II tallboys were predominantly constructed using native oak or pine frames veneered with figured walnut, burr walnut, or mahogany. Construction features include hand-cut dovetail joints, brass batwing escutcheons, and decorative feather-banding inlay.

Authentic pieces display hand-sawn drawer linings, original brass backplate handles, and oak or pine secondary timbers showing natural timber shrinkage over time. Additionally, genuine 18th-century examples feature hand-cut dovetails and period-correct crossbanding along the drawer fronts.

A tallboy functions effectively as a focal piece in a bedroom, dressing room, or grand hallway. Balancing its substantial vertical scale with contemporary artwork or clean-lined minimalist lighting creates a refined juxtaposition.

Keep the timber cabinet away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent veneer lifting or cracking. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year using a soft cotton cloth, moving along the direction of the natural grain.
