Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A caddy spoon is a compact utensil designed to measure dried tea leaves from a tea caddy into a teapot. Popularised in the late 18th century and continuing through the Victorian era, these spoons featured shortened handles enabling them to be stored directly inside tea containers.

Victorian caddy spoons were predominantly crafted from hallmarked sterling silver, although silver plate, mother-of-pearl, bone, and tortoise shell were also utilised. The metal variants were often stamped or cast into decorative forms, such as scallop shells or leaves.

Authentic British Victorian silver caddy spoons feature full official hallmarks, including the lion passant for sterling silver, a town mark, a date letter, a makers mark, and occasionally a monarchs duty head. Physical indicators include hand-finished detailing and appropriate age-related wear patterns around the rim and handle.

Small antique silver pieces can be displayed on a sideboard top inside a shallow glass display box or arranged alongside a ceramic tea set on a tray. They are also styled on bar carts, curated coffee table trays, or framed within shadow boxes as decorative wall art.

Sterling silver utensils should be cleaned gently using a soft microfibre cloth and a dedicated silver polish formula to clear oxidisation. Avoid abrasive chemical cleaners or dishwashers, and store the item in a dry, tarnish-resistant cloth bag or velvet-lined case.
