Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A silver caddy spoon is a compact, short-handled utensil designed to measure and transfer loose tea leaves from a tea caddy into a teapot. Popularised during the 18th and 19th centuries, these spoons feature specialized bowl shapes such as shells, leaves, or scoops.

Antique caddy spoons were predominantly crafted from sterling silver, Sheffield plate, or silver-plated metals. High-end examples frequently feature hand-engraved motifs, bright-cut decoration, or chased shell-form bowls.

Authentic Edwardian silver spoons feature official British hallmarks stamped on the handle or bowl. These marks include a purity symbol, an assay office symbol such as the Sheffield crown, a date letter for the early 20th century, and a makers mark.

An antique caddy spoon can be displayed alongside tea accessories on a tray, arranged within a shallow shadow box frame, or integrated into an open sideboard display of historic silverware.

Clean sterling silver spoons using a soft cloth and dedicated silver polish to remove tarnish while preserving delicate engraved details. Store the piece in a dry, tarnish-resistant cloth bag away from high humidity.
