Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A caddy spoon was specifically designed during the 18th and 19th centuries to scoop loose tea leaves from a tea caddy into a teapot. Due to the high value of imported tea, these specialized utensils were crafted in compact proportions to fit directly inside the tea container.

Victorian caddy spoons were predominantly manufactured from solid sterling silver, often featuring hallmarks indicating the city of assay, maker, and year of production. Some examples utilized mother-of-pearl, bone, or tortoiseshell for handles, though full silver construction remained the standard.

Authentic pieces carry a full set of official British hallmarks, including the monarchs head duty mark, a leopards head or anchor for the assay office, a lion passant for sterling purity, a date letter, and a makers mark. The proportion and wear patterns should align with 19th-century manufacturing methods.

Small silver collectibles are frequently styled within glass display cabinets, laid on decorative trays on a sideboard top, or mounted in framed shadow boxes. Their compact size makes them suitable for curated tabletop vignettes alongside antique porcelain or tea service items.

Sterling silver should be cleaned using a specialized non-abrasive silver foam or polish applied with a soft cotton cloth to remove oxidisation. Items should be kept in felt-lined boxes or anti-tarnish bags when not on display to minimize exposure to atmospheric moisture and sulfur.
