Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A silver caddy spoon is a short utensil designed to fit inside a tea caddy for measuring loose tea leaves into a teapot. Introduced in the late 18th century alongside loose leaf tea imports, these spoons were produced in various decorative designs and materials.

Caddy spoons were most frequently crafted from solid silver, silver plate, or pewter. Continental European examples, particularly from Scandinavian regions, were often struck in 830 or 925 standard silver.

Authentic pieces are identified by hallmarking stamped into the bowl or handle stem. These marks typically indicate the purity standard, makers initials, town mark, and date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

Silver caddy spoons can be displayed on a sideboard top alongside tea accessories, arranged inside a velvet-lined collectors tray, or styled within a glazed cabinet to highlight metalwork details.

Silver should be cleaned using a soft cloth and a specialised silver polish to remove tarnish without scratching the metal surface. Storing items in anti-tarnish cloth bags reduces atmospheric oxidisation.
