Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Caddy spoons emerged in the late eighteenth century for measuring loose leaf tea into teapots, with apostle figures becoming prominent during the Victorian era as part of a historicist revival of Renaissance and Tudor design motifs.

Victorian caddy spoons were predominantly crafted from solid sterling silver, using techniques such as die-stamping, hand-chasing, and casting to produce intricate features like fluted shell bowls and sculpted handles.

Authentic British sterling silver items bear official assay office hallmarks, including the lion passant quality mark, a city mark, a date letter, and a registered silversmiths initials stamped into the metal.

Display the piece alongside porcelain on a dining sideboard, inside a glass-topped collector box, or curated on a silver tea tray to add historical depth to contemporary dining spaces.

Clean silver using a soft microfibre cloth and specialized silver polish, avoiding harsh chemicals or submersing the piece in water to preserve natural oxidisation within low-relief details.
