Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian iron and brass bedsteads typically feature a framework of painted or enamelled iron vertical spindles topped with a brass rail and brass ball finials. Introduced during the mid-to-late nineteenth century, these designs offered hygienic and durable alternative frames to traditional timber beds.

These bedsteads were constructed using cast iron corner joints, wrought iron vertical rods, and hollow brass tubing. The iron components were cast or forged, while decorative brass caps, mounts, and top rails were attached to structural connection points.

Original pieces feature cast iron corner joints with dovetail fits, stamped maker marks or registration numbers, and authentic brass oxidisation. They also possess threaded iron castors and heavy iron side rails designed to slot into the headboard and footboard.

An antique metal bed frame can be styled by pairing crisp linen bedding in neutral tones with modern bedside lighting. The metallic contrast of iron and brass complements minimal painted walls as well as darker heritage colour schemes.

Painted iron surfaces should be dusted regularly with a soft cloth and cleaned using mild water solutions if required. Brass components should be wiped clean without aggressive abrasive polishes to preserve original lacquered finishes or aged patina.
