Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian iron bedsteads are metal bed frames produced during the nineteenth century, known for combining cast or wrought iron framework with decorative brass components. They typically feature tubular uprights, scrollwork or spindle patterns, and brass finials or caps.

These bedsteads were constructed using hand-poured iron cast joints that fused the frame components together, alongside drop-in side rails that slotted securely into corner brackets. Decorative features were shaped from iron wire or rods and capped with polished brass fittings.

Authentic pieces display heavy cast-iron corner joints known as chill casts, thread-mounted brass finials, and non-standard imperial dimensions. Original manufacturing marks or stamped foundry plates are often located on the interior face of the iron side rails.

A pair of single iron bedsteads can be styled symmetrically in a guest room or childrens bedroom using crisp white linens to contrast with the dark or painted metalwork. Neutral wall finishes and natural wood accent furniture complement the delicate outline of the frames.

Dust metal frames regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and inspect for signs of rust on exposed iron surfaces. Brass fittings should be cleaned with specialized metal polish, taking care to protect adjacent painted finishes from abrasion.
