Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A longcase clock, commonly known as a grandfather clock, is a tall, free-standing, weight-driven pendulum clock enclosed within a wooden cabinet, developed prominently in Great Britain during the late 17th and 18th centuries.

Georgian horologists and cabinetmakers primarily utilised solid and veneered woods such as mahogany, walnut, and oak, alongside cast brass for finials, internal gear movements, and hand-painted iron or engraved brass dials.

Authentic examples feature hand-cut joinery, original weight-driven movements, period-specific patination across metal and wood surfaces, and characteristic dial artwork such as hand-painted arches or brass spandrels.

Placing a longcase clock in an entrance hall, corridor, or dining room creates an architectural focal point, offering contrast when positioned against clean contemporary backdrops.

Position the clock away from direct heat sources and sunlight, apply natural beeswax polish to the timber cabinet periodically, and have the mechanical movement serviced regularly by a professional horologist.
