Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A longcase clock, commonly known as a grandfather clock, is a tall, free-standing, weight-driven pendulum clock enclosed in a wooden housing, developed in the late 17th century and produced extensively through the Georgian era.

Cabinetmakers constructed cases using fine timbers such as mahogany, oak, or walnut, while clockmakers crafted the internal mechanical movements, spandrels, and dials from brass, iron, and silvered metal.

Authentic period longcase clocks feature hand-engraved brass or silvered dials, weight-driven cast brass movements, hand-cut joinery, and maker signatures engraved directly onto the dial plate or boss.

Place a longcase clock as an architectural focal point in a hallway, reception room, or study, balancing its height and timber tone against neutral wall finishes and simplified modern furniture.

Position the wooden cabinet away from direct sunlight or central heating radiators, wax the timber periodically with natural beeswax, and ensure a qualified horologist cleans and oils the movement every five to seven years.
