Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bidjar rugs originate from the Kurdish town of Bijar in north-western Iran. Known historically as the iron rugs of Persia, these textiles were woven by Kurdish weavers using heavy beaters to pack down the pile, creating exceptionally durable carpets with distinctive geometric and floral motifs.

Traditional Bidjar carpets are hand-knotted using high-grade, hand-spun wool pile woven onto a heavy cotton or wool foundation. Weavers use a double-knot technique with wet wool warps and heavy wool wet-beating to achieve an extremely dense and rigid structure.

Authentic antique Bidjar pieces are recognized by their substantial weight, rigid foundation that resists folding, and rich natural vegetable dyes such as madder red and indigo blue. The design typically features stylized rosettes, Herati patterns, or medallion fields with high knot density.

A long Persian rug works exceptionally well in transitional spaces such as entrance hallways, long corridors, or beside a bed. The rich colours and historic geometric patterns provide visual contrast against minimalist timber floors, neutral walls, or contemporary cabinetry.

Routine care involves gentle vacuuming without a rotary beater bar to avoid pulling the wool fibers. Spills should be blotted immediately with a clean cloth, and the rug should be professionally washed by an antique textile specialist every few years.
