Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Malayer rugs originate from the town of Malayer and surrounding villages in northwestern Persia, south of Hamadan. Produced mainly between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, these village carpets are renowned for blending formal city designs, such as the Herati lattice, with geometric tribal weaving traditions.

Traditional Persian carpets are hand-knotted using hand-spun wool pile woven onto a cotton or wool foundation. The wool is coloured using natural vegetable and mineral dyes, resulting in subtle tonal variations known as abrash across the textile.

Authentic Malayer rugs feature asymmetrical or single-warp knotting, soft hand-spun wool, and detailed floral or lattice patterns. Inspection of the reverse side reveals a distinct, slightly depressed warp structure alongside natural dye variations that commercial reproductions cannot duplicate.

A patterned Persian rug provides an anchor for contemporary furniture, layering tone and texture into minimalist spaces. Placing the carpet beneath modern neutral seating or alongside dark timber cabinetry highlights the historic craftsmanship while creating visual contrast.

Regular care involves vacuuming using suction only, avoiding rotating beater bars that can snag fibers. Spills should be blotted immediately with a dry cloth, and professional cleaning by an oriental rug specialist is recommended every few years to preserve the natural wool fibers.
