Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the eighteenth century to maximize floor space, corner cupboards combined enclosed storage with display shelves. These pieces were crafted predominantly from mahogany during the Georgian and Edwardian eras for formal living rooms and dining areas.

Traditional pieces feature solid or veneered mahogany, dovetail drawer joints, hand-planed backboards, and moulded pediments. The cabinet doors often incorporate raised panel construction and hand-cut brass fittings.

Authentic antique pieces typically exhibit irregular hand-sawn markings on the rear timber, natural shrinkage along joinery, and original brass fittings showing oxidisation. In addition, historical finish layers often display a deep patina from aged shellac or wax.

Position the unit in an underutilised corner of a room to add architectural structure without encroaching on central floor space. Contrast the dark wood tones against soft neutral walls, filling the open shelves with modern ceramics or bound volumes.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year in the direction of the grain. Avoid placing the wood near direct heat sources or direct sunlight to prevent drying and uneven fading.
