Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian hanging corner cupboard is an 18th-century wall-mounted cabinet designed to fit securely into a ninety-degree corner. Typically constructed with a curved bow-front or flat panelled front, these cupboards were originally crafted to store valuable items such as spirits, tea, or fine china.

Primary timbers included dense Cuban or West Indian mahogany, often paired with oak or pine as secondary internal lining woods. Hardware was typically cast in brass, featuring decorative keyhole escutcheons and external steel or brass H-hinges.

Authentic pieces feature hand-sawn secondary woods, hand-cut dovetail joinery, and irregular timber shrinkage along the back boards. Original brassware will show subtle oxidisation and hand-chased details, while the finish typically exhibits a rich patination acquired over centuries.

Mount the cabinet in an unutilised dining room, hallway, or kitchen corner to introduce warm wood tones and historical depth. It serves both as architectural focal interest and practical storage for glassware or smaller items without occupying valuable floor space.

Maintain the cabinet by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a quality beeswax polish twice a year. Keep the item away from direct sunlight, central heating radiators, and damp walls to prevent the timber from warping, drying out, or splitting.
