Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Baluch and Timuri carpets originated among nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes inhabiting the border regions of eastern Iran, western Afghanistan, and Turkmenistan. These textiles were woven for utility and trade, characterized by dark palettes, flexible wool foundations, and repeating geometric motifs.

These carpets are constructed primarily using locally sourced, hand-spun wool for both the pile and foundation, though goat hair is occasionally utilized for the selvedges. Dyes were traditionally derived from natural plant and mineral sources to produce rich terracotta, indigo, and deep brown shades.

Authentic pieces exhibit a soft, supple handle with a dark, saturated colour scheme dominated by rust tones, indigo, and deep brown. Design features frequently include repeating column motifs, such as the kalam donneh or pencil box pattern, bound by intricate geometric borders.

A dark tribal carpet creates visual grounding beneath modern timber furniture, neutral upholstery, or minimalist settings. The detailed geometric patterning provides texture and historical depth when contrasted with clean architectural lines.

Vacuum gently using suction only, avoiding rotary brush heads that can catch the hand-knotted pile. Address spills immediately by blotting with a damp cloth, and schedule periodic cleaning with a specialist rug restoration professional.
