Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian side tables, produced in Britain between 1714 and 1830, are characterised by classical symmetry, delicate proportions, and the extensive use of imported timbers such as mahogany. Design features frequently include tapered legs, decorative stringing inlay, and functional drawers.

Cabinetmakers during the Georgian period primarily utilised dense mahogany, often combined with boxwood or satinwood line inlay. Internal drawer elements were typically crafted from native pine or oak using hand-cut dovetail joinery.

Authentic pieces display signs of hand construction, such as uneven hand-cut dovetails, secondary oak or pine linings, and natural wood shrinkage along drawer bases. Hardware often reveals faint fitting marks or age-appropriate patination.

A compact Georgian side table functions well as an end table beside a sofa, a delicate bedside stand, or an accent piece in a narrow hallway, bridging traditional craftsmanship with contemporary living spaces.

Position mahogany tables away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood shrinkage and fading. Dust regularly with a clean microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year.
