Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian lamp table is a small occasional table crafted during the 18th to early 19th centuries, designed to hold candles or early oil lamps. Typical designs feature turned central pedestals, tripod cabriole or splayed legs, and tops that are circular, square, or octagonal.

These tables were primarily crafted from solid Cuban or West Indian mahogany, valued for its density and deep colour. Construction techniques involved hand-carved pedestal turned spindles, dovetail joints on sliding battens, and hand-cut tripod legs hand-fitted into a central block.

Authentic pieces feature signs of hand-planing on the underside of the tabletop, irregular hand-carved turning on the column, and original iron underside bracing plates. The timber exhibits natural oxidisation, showing dark patination in recesses and lighter tones on flat surfaces.

Position the table beside a modern sofa or armchair to create a contrast between contemporary upholstery and historic timber finishes. Use it to display a contemporary desk lamp, ceramic vase, or curated stack of art books to anchor an empty room corner.

Dust regularly using a dry, soft microfibre cloth following the natural direction of the wood grain. Apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the patina, avoiding silicones, aerosol sprays, and placement near direct heat sources or damp environments.
