Description:

This is a good quality English Edwardian oval mahogany drinks tray on stand, incorporating an inset glass panel, sitting on a later stand, circa 1910, in excellent condition.  An oval galleried tray, decorated with marquetry and string inlay to the centre, depicting a lute and harp string instrument, flanked by foliate and ribbon decoration, set within a boxwood string inlay border.  The mahogany oval tray incorporates a raised gallery and retains its original top quality brass carrying handles.  A thick oval glass removable panel sits on the tray top to protect it from damage.  The Edwardian tray slots onto on a later associated stand, featuring a baize-lined top (in order to protect the underside of the tray).  The four tapering legs are decorated with bead moulded corners.

 

Ideal for use in the living or dining room, as it is both multi-functional and decorative, either for use a Butlers’ drinks tray table, occasional side table or lamp table etc.  The Edwardian tray on stand has been cleaned and French polished in our workshop, there the colour and patination are of an excellent standard.

Condition Report:

This is a good quality English Edwardian oval mahogany drinks tray on stand, incorporating an inset glass panel, sitting on a later stand, circa 1910, in excellent condition.  The top is in fine condition, with no stains, scratches or watermarks.  There is no missing banding, inlay or marquetry work.  Nominal old used marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant considering the age of them.  The brass tray handles are original and are very good quality.  The tray sits on a later associated stand.  The stand legs are solid in joint and free from any breaks or damage.  The tray on table has been cleaned and French polished in our workshop, therefore the colour and patination are of an excellent standard.  The tray on stand is well constructed and is ready to use.
