Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Qum rugs originate from the city of Qom in central Iran, where rug weaving expanded significantly during the early twentieth century. The tile pattern, also known as the Kheshti or garden panel design, divides the central field into repeating squares containing individual floral, botanical, or animal motifs derived from classic Persian garden iconography.

Authentic Qum carpets are hand-knotted on cotton or silk foundations using fine wool or pure silk for the pile. Weavers employ asymmetrical Persian knots to achieve extremely high knot densities, allowing for exceptionally crisp, detailed execution of intricate multi-coloured patterns.

Authentic pieces exhibit an integrated fringe that forms part of the warp threads rather than being sewn on after production. The reverse side reveals fine, clear knotting that mirrors the pattern on the front, alongside natural variations in dye batch shades and a pliable, dense textile structure.

A geometric tile rug serves as an ideal anchor for seating areas or dining rooms, adding structured pattern beneath modern, plain-upholstered furniture. The varied colour palette inside the panels offers multiple accent tones that can be pulled into surrounding soft furnishings and wall art.

Regular maintenance requires suction-only vacuuming without a rotating beater bar to protect the pile fibres from pulling. Spills should be blotted immediately with a clean dry cloth rather than rubbed, and professional specialist carpet cleaning should be undertaken periodically to remove deeply embedded dust.
