Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian leather armchairs feature solid hardwood frames, deep padded upholstery, hand-dyed leather hides, and decorative brass studding. They were constructed during the nineteenth century primarily for use in private libraries, clubs, and drawing rooms.

These armchairs were built using solid hardwoods such as oak or mahogany for internal frames and exposed legs. The upholstery comprised hand-tanned cattle leather over natural fillings like horsehair and coil springs, secured with individual brass tacks.

Authentic pieces display uneven patination caused by hand-dyeing processes, along with hand-turned brass studs that may show natural oxidisation. Internal frame construction often reveals hand-cut joinery, webbed seat supports, and period structural fixings.

A dark leather armchair creates visual contrast when positioned against neutral walls or alongside modern minimalist side tables. Pairing the leather texture with contemporary wool rugs or linear metal floor lamps balances the traditional aesthetic.

Leather upholstery requires regular wiping with a dry soft cloth to remove surface dust. To prevent drying and cracking, apply a specialist leather conditioner periodically and keep the chair positioned away from direct sunlight and central heating radiators.
