Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian leather club armchair is a deeply upholstered lounge seat characterised by a low back, rolled arms, and button-backed leather upholstery. Originally created for comfort in late nineteenth-century gentlemans clubs and private residences, it emphasises substantial padding and ergonomic support.

These chairs were constructed using solid timber framesfrequently oak or beechfitted with steel coil springs and stuffed with natural materials like horsehair and coconut fibre. The exterior was upholstered in vegetable-tanned full-grain leather and finished with individually hand-tacked brass studs.

Authentic period examples feature hand-tufted deep buttoning, hand-hammered individual brass tacks rather than modern strip studding, and organic patination across high-contact areas. Inspection of the underside typically reveals traditional webbing, coil springs, and hand-stitched burlap.

A leather club chair serves as a grounding focal point when contrasted with clean-lined contemporary furniture. Positioning it alongside minimal metal floor lamps, neutral linen textiles, and modern artwork balances the visual weight and warm tone of the leather.

Keep the chair away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent the hide from drying out and cracking. Dust the surface regularly with a dry, soft cloth, and apply a specialized leather wax balm periodically to preserve suppleness.
