Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian leather armchairs from the 19th century typically feature heavy hardwood frames, such as solid mahogany or walnut, paired with deep-buttoned leather upholstery. Designed for comfort in studies, libraries, and gentlemens clubs, they often include curved armrests, studding details, and turned front legs with brass castors.

These armchairs were constructed using solid mahogany frames joined with traditional mortise and tenon wood joinery. Upholstery relied on natural full-grain leather, horsehair padding, coil springs, brass stud tacks, and hand-turned front legs fitted with brass castors.

Authentic period pieces show signs of age on the timber finish and leather patina. Look for hand-turned legs, original brass castors secured with screws, hand-driven upholstery tacks, and mortise-and-tenon frame construction underneath the seat frame.

Victorian armchairs provide visual weight and historic texture when placed opposite modern minimalist sofas or alongside a contemporary desk. They work effectively in home offices, reading nooks, or formal sitting rooms framed by dark painted walls or neutral linen textiles.

Keep leather armchairs away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent cracking and fading. Dust timber frames with a soft cloth, apply specialist leather balm periodically to maintain flexibility, and polish brass castors with a gentle microfibre cloth.
