Masons Antiques has dated this Georgian Mahogany Bracket Clock to the 1800s.
The stepped and chamfered top has a gilt brass pineapple finial. There are brass, silk lined sound frets to the sides with brass carrying handles. it has dental mouldings to the top and bottom of the case and brass inlaid spandrels at the quarters. It terminates to a square plinth and stands on 4 brass, adjustable ball feet.
The 8", white painted, convex dial has black Roman numerals and very finely cut hands. It is clearly signed with the makers name. It has a cast brass bezel and convex glass.
The 8 day, 5 pillar, twin fusee movement strikes on a bell on the hour. The backplate and pendulum are both engraved to the edges and again signed with the makers name. It has just been thoroughly overhauled by our own, ninth generation, horologist and carries our usual 12mths full parts and labour guarantee. Keeping perfect time, and retaining it's original cranked winding key. Also the original key that operates the lockable bezel and back door.
A truly outstanding clock that is offered for sale at a very realistic price.
