Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Scottish pebble jewellery features locally sourced gemstones such as agates, jaspers, and cairngorms set into silver or gold mountings. The style gained widespread popularity during the Victorian era, largely driven by Queen Victorias affection for Scotland and her estate at Balmoral.

These pieces typically combine hand-cut, polished hardstones like agate, bloodstone, and jasper with sterling or coin silver settings. The stones were expertly shaped and fitted together using fine channel or bezel settings.

Authentic 19th-century examples display hand-cut and bevelled agate panels fitted seamlessly into silver mounts, often secured with extended C-clasps and tubed hinges. They frequently feature natural patination on the silver backings and lack modern solder marks or machine precision.

An antique agate brooch can be pinned to the lapel of a tailored blazer, fastened onto a scarf, or used to embellish a coat. It can also be worn attached to a ribbon as a choker or accenting the collar of a shirt.

Clean the brooch gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth to polish the silver without scratching the stones. Avoid submerging the piece in water or using chemical cleaners, as moisture can weaken the underlying foil backing or setting adhesives.
