Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Scottish agate jewellery, frequently referred to as pebble jewellery, grew in popularity during the nineteenth century, inspired by Queen Victorias affection for the Scottish Highlands. These items traditionally feature native Scottish stones precision-cut and set into engraved silver mounts.

These brooches typically utilise locally collected agates, jasper, bloodstone, and cairngorm quartz set within sterling silver or low-carat gold frameworks decorated with detailed hand engraving.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces display precisely hand-cut stone inlays fitted tightly together without gaps, accompanied by fine hand-engraved scrollwork and period-appropriate pin fittings such as C-clasps.

A historical pebble brooch can be fastened to the lapel of a tailored blazer, used to secure a heavy scarf, or pinned onto a wool coat to introduce a traditional accent to contemporary attire.

Gently wipe the surface using a dry, soft microfibre cloth to remove residues. Avoid immersing the piece in water or liquid chemical cleaners, as moisture can compromise the settings and backing materials underneath the agate inlays.
