Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A gueridon is a small, circular occasional table supported by a central pedestal or tripod base, popularised in France during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Empire style examples typically incorporate neoclassical elements, marble tops, and heavy dark timber such as mahogany.

Empire gueridons were primarily crafted using flame mahogany, rosewood, or walnut veneers over solid hardwood frames. Tops were frequently fitted with imported marble, such as Saint Anne or Belgian black marble, and accents often featured gilt-bronze or carved timber detailing.

Authentic pieces feature classical motifs such as lion paw feet, acanthus leaf carving, turned central columns, and circular marble tops set within a timber apron. Construction details include hand-cut joinery, thick wood veneers, and signs of natural age on the underside of the timber frame.

A gueridon works effectively as a focal point in an entry foyer, an elegant side table beside a sofa, or an occasional drinks table in a formal living room. Placing modern ceramics or table lamps on the marble surface creates a balanced contrast between historical and contemporary aesthetics.

Marble surfaces should be wiped with a damp cloth and mild soap, avoiding acidic chemicals that erode polish. Mahogany frames require dusting with a soft microfiber cloth and periodic applications of beeswax polish to protect the timber surface.
