Description

Khamseh confederacy,probably ghani tribe of the arab-jabbareh taifeh,fars province,south west persia,third quarter of the 19th century.

A very detailed tribal weaving featuring the pecking chickens but far more than that,a myriad of other animals & birds,comb & tribal motifs within the dark blue field colour. It is interesting to note that the pecking chickens also feature inside the ivory outer border and also within the mid blue outer border,see the many images.

A fascinating earlier tribal weaving from this khamseh group.

Has all over low pile with light wear throughout, sides and ends secure. Inventory number in white to the rear probably from an old established collection or dealer.

Size is 6 foot 10 inches by 5 foot 6 inches. 209cm X 169cm. At widest points. Fringes not measured in size. All woollen construction.
