Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Khamseh carpets were woven by a confederation of five nomadic tribes in the Fars province of South-Western Persia during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Their designs reflect a blend of Arab, Turkic, and Persian tribal iconography, often incorporating geometric field patterns and stylized animal motifs.

Traditional Khamseh rugs are hand-knotted using hand-spun wool pile on a dark wool foundation. The wool was dyed using natural organic substances, such as madder root for reds and indigo for blues, producing rich colours with subtle abrash variations.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces feature soft, lustrous hand-spun wool, a flexible all-wool foundation, and asymmetrical knots. Key visual indicators include triple diamond central medallions, bird or human figures (such as Khan figures), and dense geometric filler details.

A large tribal carpet acts as a visual anchor when placed beneath minimalist seating, polished hardwood floors, or classic leather furniture. The deep indigo and terracotta hues complement both contemporary neutral palettes and traditional rich timber interiors.

Vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting without a rotating beater bar to prevent pile damage. Place a quality underlay beneath the carpet to absorb foot traffic pressure, and consult a specialist conservator for professional cleaning.
