Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A highboy, also known as a tallboy or chest-on-stand, is a tall piece of storage furniture consisting of a chest of drawers mounted upon a base frame, predominantly crafted during the 18th century in Georgian Britain and Colonial America.

These pieces typically feature solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over oak or pine carcases, constructed with hand-cut dovetail joints, cast brass handles, and hand-carved decorative elements such as broken pediments and cabriole legs.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-planed secondary timbers, irregular hand-cut dovetails, original cast brass hardware displaying natural oxidisation, and age-related shrinkage splits along solid timber side panels.

A highboy functions effectively as a focal piece in a bedroom, dressing room, or hallway, providing vertical proportion and substantial storage alongside contemporary lighting or minimalist accents.

Position the timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent shrinkage and bleaching, dust regularly with a soft dry cloth, and apply a high-quality beeswax polish annually to preserve the finish.
