Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

King of Diamonds candlesticks are a popular pattern of Victorian brass lighting accessories characterised by a central faceted diamond-shaped knop along the column. Introduced during the late 19th century in Britain, the design commemorated royal jubilees and became an established motif in cast brassware.

Victorian brass candlesticks were typically cast in hollow halves using sand moulds, which were then brazed together and turned on a lathe to create smooth circular turnings. Many examples featured internal push-up ejector mechanisms inside the stem to raise burnt candle ends.

Authentic Victorian brass pieces often display seam lines along the inside of the stem from the two-part casting process and show lathe turning marks on the underside of the base. They are weightier than modern light alloy reproductions and may bear registered design numbers stamped into the metal.

Brass candlesticks can be arranged on a dining table centre, fireplace mantelpiece, or sideboard to add warm metallic highlights to modern rooms. Pairing them with contemporary taper candles in contrasting colours creates a balanced mix of traditional metalwork and modern aesthetics.

Clean brass candlesticks with a soft cloth and warm soapy water to remove surface dust and wax residues before applying a dedicated metal polish. Regular dusting prevents tarnish accumulation, while avoiding abrasive pads protects the metal surface from scratching.
