What is a bedside locker?

A bedside locker is a small cabinet or chest designed to stand next to a bed for convenient storage. These pieces typically enclose space behind a door or within stacked drawers to keep night-time necessities out of sight.

How do I identify Victorian pieces?

Victorian walnut bedside lockers generally display rich, dark timber figures, traditional panel construction, and robust proportions. Evidence shows they often incorporate turned feet, fielded door panels, and occasionally brass gallery rails or marble tops.

Are pairs common for these lockers?

Matching pairs appear frequently across both nineteenth and twentieth-century listings. Makers often produced these small cabinets in matched sets to flank a double bed symmetrically.

How do I clean marble top tables?

Marble surfaces require gentle wiping with a damp cloth and mild, non-acidic soap to protect the polished stone. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners that can etch or dull the natural finish of the marble inset.
