How do I wear a vintage drop necklace?

These necklaces suit evening wear and open necklines where the pendant can rest directly against the skin without catching on heavy fabrics. Pair them with simpler clothing to let the hand-set diamonds and coloured stones remain the focal point of the outfit.

Are these necklaces supplied with original chains?

Many pieces retain their period-appropriate chains, though some antique pendants have been paired with complementary newer gold or platinum chains for daily security. Check the individual listing details to confirm whether the chain matches the manufacturing period of the pendant drop.

How do I date an Edwardian diamond pendant?

Edwardian pieces typically combine platinum-topped gold with garland motifs, bows, swags and intricate millegrain edges that mimic lace. The use of old-cut diamonds set in lightweight, flexible metal frames further distinguishes pieces made between 1901 and 1910.

What is the difference between Art Deco and Edwardian styles?

Edwardian jewellery relies on curved, organic floral patterns and delicate platinum filigree, reflecting a softer aesthetic. Art Deco shifts toward strict symmetry, geometric lines, and stark contrasts using platinum alongside diamonds and calibre-cut coloured stones.
