What is a victorian front door pull?

A victorian front door pull is a heavy metal fixture attached to an entrance door to aid in opening and closing. These pieces include centre knobs, bell pulls, and combined letter box hardware from the nineteenth century.

How were these door pulls used?

They were mounted directly onto exterior timber doors to provide a secure grip for visitors and residents alike. Some variants operated mechanical bells while others served purely as handles for heavy entrance doors.

Can I install these on modern doors?

Many period door pulls can be fitted to contemporary entrance doors provided the wood thickness supports the fixings. Their robust metal construction ensures they remain fully functional for daily residential use.
