What are sterling silver card stands used for?

These stands hold printed menus or guest name cards upright on dining tables during formal meals. They serve a practical function while adding a decorative element to table settings.

How do I identify the date of a piece?

Assay office hallmarks stamped on the silver provide specific letters corresponding to the year of manufacture. Stylistic periods such as Edwardian or Art Nouveau offer further chronological context.

Are these items sold individually or in sets?

Listings include single pieces, pairs, and larger matched sets numbering three, four, or twelve. Matched sets are particularly useful for maintaining uniformity across a larger dining table.

What themes appear in the designs?

Design themes range from naturalistic animals and game birds to literary characters like Alice in Wonderland and Robin Hood. Figural representations of maidens and military motifs also occur.
